Amairy Leon Velazquez
Amairy faced a Wilms Tumor diagnosis on December 13, 2022, putting her and her family into a world turned upside down. The journey began with a month in the ICU, keeping them at the hospital for Christmas and New Years. Amairy's mom, her dedicated caregiver, made the difficult decision to leave her job to be there for her.
March 17 marked a pivotal moment with a 12-hour surgery, removing her right kidney and revealing an unexpected liver cancer. Battling through radiation, Amairy faced further challenges, leading to another prolonged hospital stay.
Now, on the cusp of completing her last cycle of chemotherapy, Amairy's strength shines through. The hope is for the journey to conclude in November, marking the end of a time filled with many challenges.
